Art After Sandy: Meeting Roddy Wildeman

So, the unbelievable happened today.
One of the main inspirations for the dune crossing/memorial design in my thesis, was the art of Roddy Wildeman. He is an artist based along the Jersey Shore who collected debris wood after Sandy and turned it into these amazing art pieces. The art reuses sherds of memories and stories from the storm to make new and beautiful art pieces.

In the course of the thesis I fell in love with the artworks and decided to look him up while we are back on the Jersey Shore a year after the fieldwork. Guess what? I met him, told him about the thesis and how his art inspired me for the design and he loved the story so much that he decided to give me one of the artworks!!
Thank you so much Roddy! This is the absolute best graduation present I can imagine!
